Jackson Jr. grabs top-10 MARS finishes at Sycamore and Macon
Tony Jackson Jr. turned in two strong MARS Late Model Championship efforts over the weekend, posting a pair of top-10 results in Illinois.
On Friday, 30 MARS Late Model competitors were at the 3/8-mile Sycamore (Illinois) Speedway, including Jackson and his Schlup Enterprises No. 56 team. Jackson claimed the runner-up spot in his heat race, starting him third in the $5,000-to-win feature. He ran in the second position for much of the 40-lapper before finishing fourth behind Jason Feger, Denni Erb Jr. and Ryan Unzicker. Jeff Herzog took fifth.
Twenty-three MARS Late Models took on the 11th annual KerbyStrong the next night at Macon (Illinois) Speedway, where a $10,000 first-place prize was on the line. Jackson finished fourth in his heat on the 1/5-mile track, then started 10th and finished eighth in the 50-lap A-Main.
He is now in third place in the MARS Late Model Championship standings.
