Jackson Jr. grabs 5th in MLRA run at Lakeside
Tony Jackson Jr. turned in a top-five result with the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) over the weekend as the series contested its first event since mid-June.
A $5,000 winner’s share was up for grabs at Lakeside Speedway on Friday, bringing 23 MLRA drivers to the 4/10-mile oval in Kansas City, Kansas.
After clocking the fifth-quickest time in qualifying, Jackson finished second in his heat race aboard his Willard Quarries No. 56 Super Late Model. He started fifth in the 30-lap main event and came home in the same spot, following Derrick Stewart, Chase Junghans, Chad Simpson and Dillon McCowan under the checkered flag.
Saturday’s slated $7,000-to-win KC Cup at I-70 Speedway in Odessa, Missouri, fell to Mother Nature.
With the Lakeside event in the books, Jackson sits sixth in the MLRA standings.
