Jackson Jr. lands on podium in MLRA Founders Tribute opener at Springfield
Tony Jackson Jr. returned to the cockpit of his Allgaier Performance No. 56 Super Late Model over the weekend as he participated in the MLRA Founders Tribute at Springfield (Missouri) Raceway. Jackson turned in two strong nights of racing, resulting in one podium finish and a pair of top-10s.
The event, which honored MLRA series founders Randy Mooneyham and Kenny Essary, along with 36 years of competition, brought nearly 30 Super Late Models to the quarter-mile oval.
On Friday, Jackson turned in the second-quickest time in qualifying and won his heat race from the pole. He started third in the 30-lap, $5,036-to-win main event and finished in the same spot, rounding out the podium behind Brian Shirley and Dillon McCowan. Clay Stuckey finished fourth and Billy Moyer Sr. claimed the fifth spot.
The next night, Jackson turned in the overall best qualifying time with a lap of 12.738 seconds. He again won his heat from the pole and started from the top spot in the 36-lap finale paying $10,036 to the victor. He came home eighth to score his second top-10 finish in as many nights.
