Jackson Jr. competes in Missouri and Illinois on last weekend in April
Tony Jackson Jr. raced in two states with two series over the weekend in his VG Performance No. 56 Super Late Model, claiming a pair of finishes just outside the top 10.
On Friday, the slated MARS Late Model Championship JCB Diggin’ Dirt 40 at the Brownstown (Illinois) Bullring was rained out, so Jackson instead headed to Monett Motor Speedway in Monett, Missouri. At the 3/8-mile oval, he was part of a 21-car field competing in the first-ever United Late Model Racing Association event.
Jackson finished second in his heat at Monett and began the 30-lap, $3,000-to-win feature from the fourth spot. He suffered a DNF but still scored a 12th-place result.
The next night, Jackson was part of a 30-car MARS Late Model field at the quarter-mile Peoria (Illinois) Speedway for the $5,098-to-win Garry Swibold Memorial. After qualifying fifth in his group, Jackson was unable to finish either his heat or B-Main. As a result, he began the 40-lap feature from the 21st position. He climbed an impressive 10 spots in the race to come 11th.
After the Garry Swibold Memorial, Jackson is sixth in MARS Late Model Championship points.
