Tough Brownstown 100 for Tony Jackson Jr.
Tony Jackson Jr. rolled into the Brownstown (Illinois) Bullring on Friday evening seeking to score a $10,000 victory in the Brownstown 100. However, mechanical gremlins intervened in his bid for a strong finish during the MARS Late Model Championship event.
Jackson began his night at the quarter-mile track by qualifying his Allgaier Performance No. 56 Super Late Model second out of 30 cars. He won his heat race from the pole and started second in the 50-lap feature. He ran in the top five early in the race, but suffered a mechanical failure and retired after completing 14 circuits. He registered a 22nd-place result.
On Saturday, the Illinois State Championship at Peoria Speedway was rained out.
After the Brownstown 100, Jackson dropped to fourth in the MARS Late Model Championship standings.
