Tony Jackson Jr. earns MARS top-10 finishes in Illinois Valley Showdown
The MARS Late Model Championship’s busy spring slate wrapped up at LaSalle Speedway over the weekend with two days of racing. In the Illinois Valley Showdown at the quarter-mile oval in LaSalle, Illinois, Tony Jackson Jr. grabbed multiple top-10 results.
On Friday, 31 MARS Late Models were at the track for the Twisted Twin 25s, each paying $5,000 to win. Jackson finished third in his heat race and started the first 25-lap feature from the eighth spot. He finished 10th in his Allgaier Performance No. 56 Super Late Model.
With the top 10 inverted for the night’s second feature, Jackson found himself on the pole to begin the 25-lap race. He came home in the fifth position, trailing Tyler Erb, Ryan Unzicker, Brandon Sheppard and Bobby Pierce at the checkered flag.
Thirty-two MARS Late Models were at LaSalle the next night for the Illinois Valley Showdown finale. Jackson struggled in his heat and recorded a DNF in his B-Main, putting him 21st on the grid to begin the 75-lap, $25,000-to-win main event. He mounted a strong charge and picked up 11 positions for a 10th-place result.
Through the end of May, Jackson sits fourth in the MARS Late Model Championship standings, just six markers behind third-place Shannon Babb.
