JACKSON EARNS MLRA "MARCH MADNESS" SWEEP AT SPRINGFIELD RACEWAY
MLRA PREMIER FLATWORK VICTORY LAP
MIDWEST LATE MODEL RACING ASSOCIAITON (MLRA)
Springfield Raceway – Springfield, MO (3/14/2026)
“March Madness” Night # 2
Tony Jackson, Jr., made it two-for-two on the weekend Saturday night, as the Lebanon, MO driver raced to his second consecutive MLRA victory at the Springfield Raceway in the “March Madness” finale. After leading wire-to-wire on Friday night, Jackson had a much more challenging showdown on Saturday, as the 30-lap main event would see four lead changes between Jackson and Dillon McCowan. Jackson pulled away in the closing laps enroute to another $5,000 payday and trip to Premier Flatwork Victory Lane.
Fifth starting Dillon McCowan, who scored the Rex McCroskey Memorial in 2025 at Springfield Raceway, held onto second at the line after leading 6 of the 30 circuits. He was followed across the line by Terry Phillips who was seeking his second career MLRA win on the Springfield quarter mile. Phillips only other MLRA win at his home track came in 2010.
Ainsworth Iowa’s Derrick Stewart rebounded after a Friday night DNF with a strong 4th place run after setting the Swift Springs “Fast Time” of the night in MyRacePass Qualifying. Outside pole sitter Clay Stuckey, finished out the top five and joined Jackson as the only two drivers on the weekend to collect a pair of top-five finishes in the return of the MLRA.
MLRA HAMMER DOWN: The MLRA’s winningest driver of all time Terry Phillips, returned to the series both nights this weekend. Saturday night would see the Springfield driver advancing 12 positions and collecting the nights Stakt Products “Hard Charger” Award. Phillips in his familiar # 75 rolled from 15th on the grid and came home in 3rd, his first MLRA Podium finish since a runner-up effort on June 27th, 2020 at the Salina Highbanks Speedway.
MLRA LOOK AHEAD:
The MLRA next returns to action on April 10th & 11th at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO for the 13th Annual MLRA “Spring Nationals”. Friday nights weekend opener will pay $7,000 to win followed by a $20,000 finale on Saturday night.
